It seems that no one can go wrong when they are playing for the Dallas Cowboys. They have success on the field, and they reward their players off it. This has been shown in the offseason by the lucrative contract extensions the team gave to RB Marion Barber and CB Terrence Newman. Not to mention the deal they gave QB Tony Romo during last season. Well, the spending continued this week, as the Cowboys gave WR Terrell Owens an extension to his contract. To avoid all the specifics, T.O. will be a Cowboys for four more years and will make $34 million over that time. Combine that with a $12.9 million signing bonus, and they showed him the money.
This is a good move for both parties. Owens gets his contract extension he craved, as well as the money he wanted. Now, he can keep his focus on the field, where it belongs. The Cowboys made the good move by giving him big money to keep him in town. By doing this, they avoided the same situation that transpired in Philadelphia. He complained about his contract, and eventually was drove out of town because of it.
Speaking of the Cowboys, the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell have announced that Adam "Pac Man" Jones has been re-instated, but only on a limited basis. Jones is now eligible to participate in all off-season work outs, as well as training camp and pre-season. This does not include the regular season however. The final decision on "Pac Man" will be made by September 1st. The bottom line is: if he keeps out of trouble, he probably will be allowed to play.
Criminal Counter: 4 - It's an older charge, but it's coming out now. Patriots G Nick Kazcur was arrested for possession of illegal painkillers back in April. Apparently, he has also been part of a police operation to get back drugs from sellers. How's that for irony?
