Hit And Run

What a mess this is. Sure, I might get a new addition to my Criminal Counter (which sits at 5), but it comes at the cost of one of the best up-and-coming players in the NFL: Buffalo Bills RB Marshawn Lynch. Lynch is the primary suspect in a hit-and-run case that occurred the other day. It appears Lynch was one of many in the car that struck a pedestrian. This could be bad news for the Bills, who were set to take steps towards playoffs this year. The loss of Lynch would cripple any hopes they have.

Whats going on elsewhere in the NFL?

->Wow, another ridiculous contract to a rookie, as #4 overall pick RB Darren McFadden has inked a deal with the Raiders. Looking to avoid a holdout similar to last year's 1st overall pick QB JaMarcus Russell, the Raiders gave McFadden a 6-year, $60 million deal with $26 million guarenteed. Jeez. That's all that can be said for this. Rookies continue to be overpaid, and the league will suffer in the future because of this. McFadden could be a phenomenal talent, but seeing as he won't even be the starter this season, this seems like a lot of money. My advice to current starter Justin Fargas: watch your back.
-> Giants TE Jeremey Shockey has re-appeared at Giants camp, and appears to be staying. While he has made it known that he is unhappy with his situation in New York, he is still being a team player by showing up. I'm sure Shockey just wants to be in tip-top playing shape, and does not care where he has to play. The best way to go with this situation would be for both parties to reach an agreement, whether it be trading Shockey, or him starting again for the Champs.
-> 49ers WR Arnaz Battle has been a no-show at camp so far, as he wants a new deal as well. Battle has become quite the receiver in the past few years, as he has started the past two seasons. The Niners brought in Isaac Bruce and Bryant Johnson via free agency, and Battle is now appeared to be #3 on the depth chart. This hasn't sat well with Battle, and he could be sent elsewhere if this doesn't sort itself out.
-> The Cleveland Browns appear to be in no rush to re-sign All-Pro TE Kellen Winslow Jr. Now...my only question is: WHY NOT? This guy has become a huge producer in the offence, and he needs to know the team will compensate him for this. Now, don't take this as a call to K2 to skip training camp, but come on. Yes, he has injury concerns, but he did play most of last season, and has developed into a great TE. They had better get this done before K2 misses too much of camp to recover.
-> The Raiders have given RB LaMont Jordan the chance to seek a trade. Jordan has been so-so as a starter the past few years, and has also struggled with injuries. Something tells me that with Shaun Alexander still on the market, there may not be many suitors for a similar runner in Jordan. His only upside is he is still on the south side of 30, and has a few more years left. When healthy, Jordan can be a force, but he needs good blocking to succeed.
-> Speaking of disgruntled TEs, Jets Chris Baker reported to camp, but has voiced his displeasure about his current contract. This is another case of a hot-shot, overpaid rookie pushing for playing time as the Jets drafted TE Dustin Keller in the first round. Baker is just concerned that he will lose playing time, and why shouldn't he be? The Jets need to show their TE that he still has value with the team, and is in their future plans. Good job reporting to camp.

Hopefully this Lynch situation sorts itself out. If anything arises, it will be posted.
